Hunt and Gather – Portland, OR

Hope everyone had a fantastic fourth of July. We got a nice tan in Eastern Washington and had tons of family fun at the river. Here are some more pictures from last week’s trip to Portland. One of my favorite finds on this trip was Hunt and Gather in the Pearl District. It is located in one of the neighborhoods old brick factory buildings and the big white-walled showroom with high ceilings and white columns was a clean canvas for endless splashes of colorful whimsy. The furniture pieces were all chosen and arranged with great care, the accessories had one of kind character and the art work was show stopping. I happen to love animal artwork that has an animation feel to it (few people know about my own collection of animal illustrations). At Hunt and Gather I was particularly charmed by the work of Eil Halpin. Her use of color was uplifting and each of the subjects in her paintings seemed to have a rich story to tell you. The paintings along with most of the furniture can be custom ordered and Hunt and Gather also offers a design service. Thank you to owner Lisa DeLaere Breslau for being so friendly and welcoming! I will be back again on my next trip.

    HI Aubrey,

Hope Fall is finding you well! :) I wanted to say how thankful I/we are for the most beautiful blog you did for Hunt & Gather. Your pictures speak a thousand words and with this store being my second home I’m very honored to be apart of what your creating! Being inspired by colors, textiles and as you say that “Swank” is what we hope to instill to our customers by our funtastic pieces!;)
Let me know next time your in town, would love to hear some fun stories of your findings! Were hosting a Truck show early December with two of our artist, Melissa Melco a metal jewelry designer and the amazing Dominique Garcia who does the reverse paintings on recycled windows that I’m sure you had seen at the shop. Check out FB for the dates! Regardless I would love to keep in touch! We posted your blog on our Facebook page too! Thanks for keeping the creativity alive and on the go! :)

    Sincerely,
    Cameron Baker
