From Nail Polish to Logo

It’s a good thing that I needed eggs today! If I hadn’t gone to the grocery store I would not have seen the colors on these nail polishes and put that together with this green foundation stick that I had in my purse (why would I have green foundation, well lets just say it has to do with a sunburn and a knowledge of complimentary colors). And if I hadn’t become possessed by the inspiration that I found in these colors then I would not have finally figured out the logo for my new online vintage store.

So I decided to start a vintage store on Etsy when my Grandma gave me a bunch of stuff to sell. I thought I would call the store “Black Eyed Suzie” because that was the nickname her Dad gave her growing up. Thus I google imaged a picture of some black eyed suzies (flowers) and have had it sitting on my desk top for weeks… waiting for inspiration to strike, and the nail polish sent me on a productive tangent today.

I have also had a picture of some vintage cinder block on my desk to for a while. I just thought they were cool and was waiting for a use for them. With a little photoshop magic I turned them white and polarized them a little…

…. traced the flower with my drawing pad…

… did a little layering …

… and the header for my new store is done! Well, four drafts of it are done. Which color do you like best?
